Cap-And-Trade Money to Pay for California Road Work?

By

A proposal to use cap-and-trade money to pay for fixing and repairing California roads and bridges was killed in committee, Tuesday.

San Dimas Republican Bob Huff says the proposal was a common sense use of the money already being raised by the passage of AB 32, the Cap-and-Trade environmental bill of 2006.

Huff says annually, highway repair and maintenance is underfunded by $5 billion and local street repair by another $1.8 billion.  The bill died in Senate Transportation and Infrastructure Development on a 3-2 party line vote. Tom Perumean, KABC NEWS.
