Who will pay for shut down of San Onofre Nuclear Plant?

The Public Utilities Commission will be reconsidering a settlement it reached with Southern California Edison over who pays for the shut down of the San Onofre Nuclear Plant.

The utility says it will participate fully with the Commission, but Jamie Court with Consumer Watchdog says the neither side has any credibility.

“It was their misconduct and the misconduct of one of their lobbyists with the chairman of the PUC, Michael Peevey that lead to this corrupt settlement.  You know we have a three-point-three billion dollar deal that sticks ratepayers for the closing of the San Onofre Nuclear Plant.”

After the revelations of a backroom deal became public, two ratepayer groups that had signed onto the deal both called for the deal to be overturned last summer.  Tom Perumean, KABC NEWS.
