The former model who dated Donald Trump in the early 90’s says the Sunday New York Times piece about the presidential candidate and his behavior with women put a negative spin on her story about their first meeting at a party at his Mar-a-Lago club. Rowanne Brewer Lane says Trump called her after the piece came out and after she publicly refuted the implications of the Times treatment of her story. She also says Trump never paid her any money and that their talk this week was the first time they had spoken since they were dating
“What I got from Donald Trump after the story broke was a phone call yesterday. He called me personally and said ‘Rowanne …?’ and I didn’t know it was a New York number, I was thinking of going back up there. I have some business to do. I said, ‘This is’ and I hear ‘Donald’ and I said, ‘Hi Donald. How are you?’ He says, ‘How are YOU, my dear?’ and I said, ‘I’m fantastic, nice to hear you.’ Then we had a ten minute conversation, him saying, ‘Good for you,’ ‘thank you for the support concerning the Times.’ – he didn’t actually know who I was voting for – ‘You were very eloquent, a very classy lady. Everyone is talking about you and if you ever need anything let us know.’ ”
Lane said their relationship started at a party where Trump offered to show her around his club. After a while, he asked her if she wanted to take a swim. She said she hadn’t brought a swimsuit. It turns out he had a drawer full of bikinis and he invited her to take one. Lane changed into the suit in the bathroom and then went back to the pool party with Trump
“I just came out and he goes, ‘Now that’s a stunning Trump girl!’ and people laughed and I just blushed and said, ‘Thank you.’ It was no big deal.”
She said she’s a Republican and plans to vote for Trump in the November election.
