Cleveland Cavaliers fans are getting what they wanted: A chance to see their World Champions parade through the streets of ‘Believeland.”
Fans are going crazy to see LeBron James, Kyrie Irving, J.R. Smith, Kevin Love, Mathew Dellavedova, Iman Shumpert and those on top of trucks and riding in cars waving to fans.
Shumpert got out of his vehicle and ran through the crowd. The parade is moving slowly because of the crowds.
The players have brought their families out to share in the celebration.
Former Cavs stars like Brad Sellers are also getting cheers in the parade. Even the Larry O’Brien NBA Championship Trophy is getting cheers.
The players are smoking cigars and taking photos. J.R., still shirtless, is walking along the parade route having a blast. Fans just want to slap hands. Other players caught the fever from J.R. and have now taken off their shirts.
Downtown Cleveland is packed with Cleveland Cavaliers fans. Cleveland police said 1 million people are here.
The parade was delayed about 30 minutes because of people in the streets. Police were trying to corral fans back to the edges with cruisers and mounted officers.
All streets are lined with wine and gold, people are packed several feet deep along the parade route.
Parking lots are full and RTA is jammed and people are cheering. Thousands of people were crossing the Lorain-Carnegie Bridge to get close to the Q.
It appears people are just having fun as crowds continue to grow. They are finding any place to get a view of the Cavaliers including on top of the Free Stamp and even Porta-Potties.
Fans as young as 4-years-old were already heading to the Cavs rally location at Mall B downtown at 3:30 a.m. Their parents told Cleveland 19 that today is an historic day and they want their kids to witness all of it.
Others were already securing spots along the E. 9th parade route.
