The Supreme Court’s 4-4 split on President Obama’s immigration plan could lead to further challenges to the President’s executive actions on the issue, says a state official who spoke with KABC.

The high court let stand a lower court ruling that blocked an administration plan affecting 4.3 million undocumented workers. It would have provided those immigrants temporary relief from the threat of deportation and could have qualified them for work authorization and associated benefits. It was the second action taken by the President to shield immigrants from deportation. The first, signed four years ago, was the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA), initiative aimed at non-citizens who came to the country as children.

“Stay tuned on that one,“ says Kansas Secretary of State Kris Kobach, “We may have some action on the deferred action for childhood arrivals.”

Kobach, who has made some of the legal arguments on behalf of states challenging the administration, says the President has overstepped his authority on immigration.

Kobach was on TalkRadio 790 KABC’s McIntyre in the Morning with Doug McIntyre and Terri-Rae Elmer.
