Absentee ballots in Illinois are still being delivered to county clerk offices.

Under state law, ballots can be accepted for up to 14 days after election day if they are postmarked by election day.

In St. Clair County, more than 9,000 ballots have already come in and more than 2,000 are still unreturned.

County Clerk Thomas Holbrook said it’s unlikely the uncounted ballots will change any winners but one race for County Clerk, which has a difference of about 1,200.

Holbrook said all the ballots are secured in a vault and they will be counted by election judges at the end of November.
