Report: O.C. Fire Captains Continue To Benefit From “Soaring Overtime Pay”

The Orange County Fire Authority Board placed an overtime cap in 2015 after years of questions being raised.

But even after that, Robert Fellner with Transparent California says the cap should be tightened as captains are still doubling and even tripling their pay.

“The fact that these contracts are by and large written by the government unions and it’s reached a level now where it’s breaking the bank.”

The Orange County Fire Authority says the overtime is the result of staffing issues, something Fellner says is a symptom of a larger problem.
