Supreme Court Decision Slaps Down Unions

By

/

The Supreme Court has ruled against organized labor in its last decision of the session. The 5-4 decision overturns a 41 year precedent it set regarding public sector unions. The justices struck down an Illinois law that required non-union workers to pay fees that go to collective bargaining.

Larry Sand is the president of the California Teachers Empowerment Network and he says while the ruling is great news for workers, it’s not as dire as the unions are making it seem..

“Really, it’s just nuts. People say you’re going to cripple the middle class. What? Throughout half the country, this law already existed. This is just for the remaining states that didn’t have it. Now all 50 states have it. The middle class is doing fine in right to work states. This is just hysteria. This is just. pardon me, all bs…it’s just hysteria.”

conservative Justice Samuel Alito wrote opinion for the majority.

Sand was a guest on McIntyre in the Morning.
