Advocate: Tram to Hollywood sign will bring bigger headaches to heavily-trafficked area

Warner Brothers announced plans last week for an aerial tram that would ferry passengers to and from the Hollywood sign.

Marian Dodge, President of the Friends of Griffith Park is not on bard with this latest proposal to handle the vast stream of selfie seekers attracted to the iconic landmark.

“If they do put in a gondola – it’s an attraction – it will attract even more people, put greater risk on the people, put pressure on the habitat and the wildlife. Griffith Park is absolutely being loved to death.”

She thinks that many tourists will balk at paying to ride the tram to the sign.

“I’m sure they’ll still take their GPS and they’ll be going up to Beachwood, so I’m not sure it’s going to take that much pressure off the Beachwood Canyon area … it also does not solve the issue of providing free local access to Griffith Park for the local Beachwood Canyon residents.

Marian Dodge was a guest on McIntyre in the Morning.
