LA Roads Safety Questioned by Transportation Research Group

Carolyn Kelly with the non-profit TRIP says throughout the state, 56-percent of bridges are over 50 years old – reaching the end of their design life.

“As they age, they require more attention, more repairs and even replacement in some cases but at this point, the funding simply doesn’t exist to keep pace with the aging bridges that the state has.”

She says of the over 47-hundred bridges in the L.A. area, 176 bridges 20 feet or longer are structurally deficient.
