LAPD Release New Shooting Policy

By

/

Any LAPD officer who shoots someone will now have to wait at least two weeks before going back out in the field.

L.A. Police Protective League President Craig Lally says it’s a good policy because some officers feel pressured to return before they’re ready.

“Some rush back into the field. That’s why I think it’s important that they’re forced to be off for a 14 day period – just to get the mindset of the officer so that he’s able to go back in the field.”

The new policy was approved by a five-member civilian panel that oversees the department.
