Ken Starr: “I believe Brett Kavanaugh”

An 11th hour revelation regarding the Supreme Court nominee and an alleged incident 36 years ago is rocking Washington.

Former independent counsel Ken Starr, who’s new book Contempt: A Memoir of the Clinton Investigation details his role as independent counsel over the Lewinsky scandal, says Judge Brett Kavanaugh, a former member of his legal team back then, is beyond reproach.

“He’s a renown judge, now being dragged through the mud. I believe fervently in the integrity of Brett Kavanaugh. Quite apart from the fact that this alleged incident was in high school. High school. I’m going to say that a third time. High school. He’s had this public career of many decades of great distinction of integrity, honorable behavior toward his law clerks and toward women and and six FBI investigations. I have a profound process concern that the senior Senator Diane Feinstein had this information and did not bring it forward so it would be considered in due course. Process counts and the Supreme Court has integrity and the Senate has integrity, a process integrity. I hope this is handled quickly, but for my part I believe Brett Kavanaugh.”

His book details his role during the Lewinsky scandal which eventually led to President Clinton’s impeachment, and him being passed over to be a Supreme Court Justice.

“Who knows whether I would have been selected. I talk about my own sense of loss about the Supreme Court when I was passed over by President Bush 41 and he chose David Souter. I analogize it to Justice Souter was Hertz and I was Avis. I cam in second which only counts in horseshoes or something like that.”

Starr was a guest on McIntyre in the Morning.
