What’s the motive in the serial mail bomb plot?
Former CIA covert operations officer, and president of Diligence LLC, Mike Baker, says those who are speculating on social media should allow authorities to complete their investigation before drawing conclusions.
“You got…hundreds of thousands of people out there with their theories and they’re all absolutely convinced that they’re right. And so, now suddenly everybody’s a bomb tech. I don’t like to dwell in the world of speculation. So I always say look it’s frustrating but you’ve gotta let the investigation play out. You gotta get the evidence, the facts, then you can determine motive once you actually have the perpetrator at hand,” said Baker.
Baker also said there are lots of people who are to blame for the current political climate.
“Everybody… politicians on both sides of the aisle, pundits on both sides across the political spectrum, anybody with a social media platform who spends their time hammering one side or the other, they’re all responsible for the current mood and the current environment and the increasingly aggressive rhetoric. Everybody has a part to play in this. You know the irritating part is how now everybody wants to back off and act like, ‘Hey, it’s not me.’ Nobody gets out of this blameless.”
