Ex-Trump Lawyer John Dowd: Mueller Report Takes “Swipes At Me That Are Not Accurate”

One of President Trump’s former lawyers is slamming the Mueller report.

John Dowd, who was one of the key players on President Trump’s defense team, is slamming special counsel Robert Mueller’s decision to leave open the question of whether the president obstructed justice — and he says the 448-page Mueller report isn’t accurate.

“There’s a couple of swipes at me that are not accurate, about Flynn, talking to Flynn’s lawyer. It’s not accurate at all and they never gave me an opportunity to respond, and uh. they claimed that we were upset because Flynn went in. In fact, we were just the opposite.”

Dowd was a legal advisor to President Trump for almost a year. Beginning in the 1980s he was appointed to lead several special counsel investigations into gambling and bribery in major league baseball. It was his “Dowd Report” that resulted in Pete Rose being banned from the sport for life. Early in his career Dowd was at the Department of Justice tackling organized crime.

“I used to run an organized crime strike force,” Dowd said. “And if one of my lawyers had turned this in he would be fired. It’s biased…it’s just not accurate. It’s full of omissions. It’s a pretty sloppy job.”
