Politics in Orange County are turning blue.

The former GOP stronghold and political stomping ground for presidents Reagan and Nixon now officially has a Democratic majority. A few months after Democrats won all of the county’s congressional seats, voter registration numbers highlight the point: out of more than a million registered voters, Democrats edge out Republicans by 89 people. Analysts point to several factors: some conservative residents leaving for lower-tax states and a more liberal trend among many college-educated suburban voters.
