Local doctors are happy that state lawmakers are tightening up vaccine requirements for kids in school and daycare.

With the stroke of a pen, Governor Gavin Newsom gave the state more power to deny suspicious medical exemptions for standard childhood vaccinations. Doctor Richard Kang tells KTLA 5 it will mean healthier kids.

”We’re glad that now there’s less barriers now to getting children immunized and protected from these diseases that can have devastating consequences.”

Some protestors were arrested in Sacramento on Monday. They subscribe to the discredited belief that vaccinations cause a host of problems. For experts like Doctor Kang, the real problems are the spikes in diseases caused by unvaccinated kids. Exemptions issued through 2019 will be grandfathered.
