The president has brought up the issue during recent rallies.

”Look at Los Angeles with the tents and the horrible, horrible disgusting conditions.”

Trump officials toured parts of the city with Garcetti’s staff this week. The mayor says he’s open to federal help.

”I just hope and pray that the impulse to help us here is not about politics, but about people.”

The Washington Post reports that White House officials have suggested clearing homeless encampments and moving people into federal facilities. However, no concrete proposals have been announced.
