The fire rapidly grew in size as the Santa Ana winds and bone dry humidity sent it ripping through that mobile home park in Calimesa. Captain Fernando Herrera from Cal Fire tells KTLA-5 it had a strange start.

”Actually ended up being a trash truck that was carrying a load that was burning. The load was dumped off to the side of the road, vegetation caught on fire.”

And from there, it raced up the grassy hillside, destroying mobile homes in a matter of minutes. Over 100 firefighters worked on the ground and in the sky to halt the progress of the fire as it burned near Interstate 10.
