3 bears search through trash cans in Monrovia

MONROVIA, Calif. (KABC) -- Some people in a Monrovia neighborhood woke up Monday to a big mess. A large bear and two cubs were seen going through trash cans on the 1100 block of Norumbega Drive overnight.

It's not unusual to see bears in the foothills, especially on trash day. The bears left a mess all the way up the street, knocking down trash cans as they searched for food.

A photographer captured footage of the three bears around 1 a.m. Monday. The mama bear came down first, scoped out the street, walked back up the hill and then returned with her two cubs.

After rummaging through all the trash, the bears made their way back up the mountain. The bears were spotted in the same neighborhood last week right before trash day.
