Call it the great propane compromise - a pilot program in Newport Beach that uses propane or natural gas to toast those smores. Much cleaner than wood or fire logs the AQMD says can emit about as much pollution as diesel truck driving 564 miles. Huntington Beach community relations officer Laurie Frymire says they’re really not happy about swapping orange flame for blue, but the move may save the pits. It’ll be discussed at a 5:30 hearing at the Hyatt Regency on Jamboree. ML
