Two people were hurt and one was killed, when a metro bus and a flatbed tow truck ran into each other in downtown Los Angeles on Wednesday morning.
The accident happened just after 5 a.m. at the corner of 5th street and Broadway, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.
The tow truck slammed into a 7-eleven and the Metro bus sheared a fire hydrant poring gallons of water onto the street. Both drivers were thrown from their vehicles.
"It actually sounded like a bomb going off." Demetrious Wyman was crossing the street when the accident happened, "I seen the back of the bus thrown onto the sidewalk and I immediately ran to the front of the bus and seen the female bus driver on the curb like she was throw from the bus."
The 35-year-old woman who was driving the bus was rushed to a local hospital where she later died.
The driver of the tow truck is in serious condition and a store clerk suffered minor injuries.
The intersection of S. Broadway was blocked off from 4th to 6th streets as authorities continue their investigation.
