LOS ANGELES (AP) – Los Angeles prosecutors and family members of victims want a judge to speed up the case of an accused serial killer dubbed the "Grim Sleeper." Deputy District Attorney Beth Silverman is expected to argue Friday that the case of Lonnie Franklin Jr. should proceed to trial after years of delays. Silverman says in court papers that the right to a speedy trial – guaranteed for defendants – extends to family members of victims under Marsy's Law, a victim's bill of rights passed by voters in 2008. Defense lawyer Seymour Armster says prosecutors have delayed the case by asking for more time to respond to one of his motions. Franklin has pleaded not guilty to 10 counts of murder in a series of killings that spanned from 1985 to 2007.
