The Metro Board of Directors agreed Thursday to study ways to re-open Angels Flight — the historic railway that travels up and down Bunker Hill in downtown L.A. The board approved a motion by Mayor Eric Garcetti, who sits on the board, instructing Metro CEO Phil Washington to return in 60 days with recommendations for resuming operations of the 114-year-old funicular — which was forced to shut down nearly two years ago — after one of the two rail cars jumped the track. No one was injured in the incident — but the NTSB later determined that the operators had been bypassing a safety feature for months. I’m Jeff Whittle, KABC News.
