Fire has all but destroyed the home Singer Johnny Mathis has called home for more than 50-years.
The blaze broke out around 5-30 in the evening and ravaged Johnny Mathis’ home above Sunset Terrace. Fire fighters had a rough time fighting the structure fire because:
“We determined there was a swimming pool in the front. We were challenged with a swimming pool. Not any of our fire fighters fell in the pool.”
Narrow streets and hairpin turns initially kept crews from accessing the grass fire that had spread to Mathis’ home. No dollar figure on the damage has been determined, but Mathis lamented:
