A political pundit has three reasons for Bernie Sanders, the independent Senator from Vermont, to stay in the race against Hillary Clinton after the shellacking she gave him in the New York Democratic Primary Tuesday. “National Review” columnist John Fund says assuming that Sanders continues to collect delegates, he will be able to influence the platform at the Democratic Party Convention.
“It would mean a takeover by the Sanders forces of the party infrastructure to some extent. Also, he might be angling for the Vice Presidential nomination. And lastly, I think there’s a part of Bernie Sanders who doesn’t believe that Hillary Clinton will be the Democratic nominee because Hillary Clinton has the final primary … it’s called the FBI primary. It’s a closed primary, it’s got one voter and it’s held at only one location, the FBI office in Washington.”
Fund doesn’t think Hillary would ever be indicted. But he does believe the FBI report will be leaked out and that could have devastating consequences for her election prospects.
“Joe Biden is waiting in the wings to be substituted for Hillary if the report is damaging enough to cripple her as a potential candidate.”
John Fund was a guest on 790 KABC’s McIntyre in the Morning with Doug McIntyre and Terri-Rae Elmer.
