A man who once worked at a security firm with the Orlando nightclub shooter says he went to his boss to complain about Omar Mateen’s bizarre and offensive behavior and language. Daniel Gilroy told 790 KABC’s McIntyre in the Morning Show his supervisor looked the other way.
“They didn’t miss it. They purposefully ignored it. They conscientiously (sic) made the decision to ignore it. So it wasn’t a slip through the crack or incompetence – the ignored it! That was their decision and now 49 people are dead because of it.”
Gilroy said Mateen’s constant text messages to him at all hours tried his patience and made his girlfriend worry he was seeing someone else on the side. He finally confronted Mateen and said he wanted to keep the relationship professional.
“That’s when started to call and text me continuously… I showed these messages to my girlfriend – see the crazy guy at work.”
Gilroy eventually left the job. He says he regrets not pushing harder to get his boss to understand the extent of Mateen’s mental problems and his potential risk to the company.
Gilroy was a guest on 790 KABC’s McIntyre in the Morning with Doug McIntyre and Terri-Rae Elmer.
