In Your Right Mind is a new weekly behavioral health show that covers various topics each week. Dr. Tonmoy Sharma and Stefanie Wilder-Taylor are the hosts of the show, however, each week new guest speakers participate in a roundtable discussion regarding headlines in behavioral health. The goal is to raise awareness on pertinent issues that get people talking. The hour long show is every Sunday at 5 p.m. on Talk Radio 790 KABC Los Angeles.
Tonmoy Sharma
Chief Executive Officer
Tonmoy Sharma, Chief Executive Officer of the Sovereign Health, has more than a decade of experience managing mental health and addiction treatment facilities. His background as a psychiatrist gives him unique insight into the care of behavioral health patients and the management of mental health facilities in the U.S., Europe and in India. Dr. Sharma has done extensive research work in the areas of psychosis and memory disorders. His work has examined the relationship between brain and behavior using a variety of surrogate markers including cognition, startle response, eye movements and brain imaging techniques. His research team has examined the relationship between psychological changes and changes in the brain function during the treatment of psychiatric disorders, especially schizophrenia. Dr. Sharma has published over 150 academic papers and book chapters in the field of cognition. In addition, he has published five books on schizophrenia, including two by Oxford University Press.
Dr. Sharma received his medical training at Assam Medical College in India. After qualifying as a physician in 1987 he trained at University College London (UCL) and then at the Institute of Psychiatry in London where he became Senior Lecturer in Psychiatry. He headed the Section of Cognitive Psychopharmacology at the Institute of Psychiatry until 2001. He spent a period of time at Johns Hopkins University Department of Psychiatry, Baltimore as visiting scientist in 1994 to 1995. He gained membership of the Royal college of Psychiatrists, London in 1991 and has been a member of the American Psychiatric Association since 2004.
Stefanie Wilder-Taylor
Stefanie Wilder-Taylor is an author, standup comedian, TV personality, blogger and mother of three sporadically charming daughters. She hosts the late night comedy show for moms called Parental Discretion with Stefanie Wilder-Taylor, which is in its second season. You can catch it nightly on Nick Jr.
She has written five books starting with the irreverent best selling parenting book Sippy Cups Are Not for Chardonnay: And Other Things I Had to Learn as a New Mom (Simon & Schuster 2006) followed by Naptime Is the New Happy Hour: And Other Ways Toddlers Turn Your Life Upside Down (Simon & Schuster 2008), It’s Not Me, It’s You: Subjective Recollections of a Terminally Optimistic, Chronically Sarcastic and Occasionally Inebriated Woman, and I’m Kind of a Big Deal: And Other Delusions of Adequacy ( Simon & Schuster June 2011). Her fifth parenting book Gummy Bears Should Not Be Organic: And Other Opinions I Can’t Back Up With Fact is due out April 2015.
On television she has appeared often as a parenting expert on NBC’s “The Today Show” giving practical humorous advice –including at least one appearance for every book release. She’s also been featured on Oprah (I know, right?), 20/20, Dr. Oz, Dr. Phil, Larry King Live, HLN, CNN, Dr. Drew, Katie Couric and many more.
In print she’s been featured in People Magazine, US Weekly and the New York Times.
In the podcast world Stefanie co-hosts a popular weekly parenting humor show with Adam Carolla’s wife, Lynette, called For Crying Out Loud.
