The 2016 presidential election has revealed an American society more profoundly divided than the familiar blue state – red state dichotomy. It’s about two populations that appear to have diametrically opposed views of what life in America is like and what kind of future lies before them. Clinton supporters are concentrated in the larges urban centers with diverse populations. Trump’s supporters are located in “fly-over” country. They said throughout the campaign that they felt ignored by coastal elites whose influence over media, politics and culture seemed overwhelming.
