Metro ridership overall is down again, off by 6 percent from 2015. The Los Angeles Times reports that since 2009, rail ridership soared 21%, but bus trips — a much larger share of overall ridership — dropped 18 percent. In the same period, Metro has opened four new rail extensions at a cost of more than $4 billion.
