All of the interest in today’s solar eclipse has a cost – for employers. Challenger, Gray & Christmas, Inc. says the event is costing businesses a considerable amount of lost productivity. Using hourly wage and other data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics, Challenger estimated that the cost could total total up to as much as $700 million as workers spent an estimated 20 minutes to prepare to look at the eclipse. The firm estimated about 87.3 million workers would be on the clock during the eclipse. (CNN)
