A bomb squad was at a Lawndale home this morning after military ordnance was found in the backyard, and some area residents were bused to a nearby high school as a precaution.
The sheriff’s department says authorities were called to the home in the 14-thousand-700 block of Avis Avenue sometime after 11 last night. Surrounding homes were evacuated as a bomb squad made its way to the scene. The bomb squad has been inside the home since around 1-30 this morning.
Two people were detained for questioning, but no arrests have been reported. Authorities say the home is believed to have been occupied by transients.
