The Texas church shooting suspect may not have legally been allowed to own guns.
Officials in Texas today confirmed that Devin Kelley did not have a license to carry the three guns found in his possession. Fred Milanowski with the ATF says Kelley’s discharge from the Air Force and conviction on a domestic violence charge may have also prevented him from legally carrying a gun, depending on the legal details:
”Until we can review all the documentation to determine exactly what his discharge was – exactly what his conviction (was) in the military – we will not have a determination on whether this individual was prohibited from possessing or purchasing firearms.”
Kelley was also registered as a security guard, but was not allowed to be armed.
The gunman who killed 26 people at a Texas church had sent threatening texts to his mother-in-law — who attended the church he targeted, authorities said today.
