L.A. Metro Train Riders Scanned With New Weapons Detecting Device. Here at the Seventh Street Central Station in Downtown L.A – Metro Spokesman Dave Sotero says they are evaluating the technology to increase passenger safety and reduce congestion.“So if you’re wearing an object that interrupts that wave, that’s how the system detects a potential threat.” Transit Security Officer David Uroza says it scans you as you go down the escalator. “Tester would come down, you see green right here. It would turn black where the anomaly would be and then it will be green so you know that’s an anomaly.” The two-day test is in collaboration with the Transportation Security Administration.
