Senator Dianne Feinstein is shifting to the political left as she heads into the primary, seeking a fifth term.
Political analyst Dan Schnur says Feinstein’s flip on issues like the death penalty – which she now opposes – have left some people wondering why, since her very liberal opponent – Kevin de León – is not seen as a strong contender.
”She’s very comfortably ahead in the polls. She raised much, much more money than him. It’s entirely possible that she and her advisers decided that rather than give de León the oxygen to mount a credible campaign from the left – b
etter to shut it off.”
