A proposed homeless shelter in a San Fernando Valley neighborhood has some residents very angry.
Sherman Oaks couple Rick and Robin Marcelli say it’s a perfect storm of homelessness and criminal transients. Rick says there are basically two groups that are often lumped together as a single problem.
“There’s the homeless – people who need a helping hand – you know, we’ve all needed a helping hand in our lives – and then there’s the criminal transients – the drug addicts, the mentally ill, drug-fueled transients.”
Rick says it’s the latter group that is a threat to their sense of well-being and safety.
”There are people that have been breaking into our homes, into our dumpsters, threatening our lives. We have found the transients taking baths in our Jacuzzi.”
Robin Marcelli says the elderly and kids are at risk.
”We had a child that lives in our unit – ten years old – that was threatened by a guy, that apparently, according to the police, he is a heroin addict.”
Robin and Rick Marcelli were guests on McIntyre in the Morning.
