The Dodgers and Brewers are tied 1-1 in their best of seven series as they vie for the National League pennant.
J.P. Hoonstra, who covers the Dodgers for the Southern California News Group and author of “The 50 Greatest Dodger Games of All Time,” says Milwaukie may come up short in the pitching department.
“Up 6 to 1, Craig Council, the Brewers manager didn’t want to use two of his better relievers in that game. He thought he had that one in the bag. But that’s the kind of move that can have kind of a trickle-down effect. Now you see the Brewers bring in Jefferson at a critical moment in Game 2. He’s already thrown a little bit the day before and sure enough he goes ahead and gives up three runs, including the home run by (Justin) Turner. So, I think that both of those games can have a very practical cumulative effect, as well as the emotional effect, going in to Game 3 here at home.”
