The implant has been developed by a neurosurgeon at UCLA and the Food and Drug Administration is calling it a breakthrough. After the device has been implanted, blind people are able to see light patterns, and even make out shapes on a computer monitor. The blind person simply wears special pair of glasses with a camera installed, which sends wireless signals to the brain. The team at UCLA says they will continue to improve the technology.
