Emergency crews saved the man Wednesday morning as heavy rain soaked the area. They say he was knocked over by ankle-deep water and swept toward a drain pipe near Ellis Avenue. He managed to hold on to a grate for three to four hours shouting for help until a bystander found him and called 9-1-1. The man, who is in his 50s, declined to be transported to the hospital.
