The growth of coronavirus numbers is starting to slow in Los Angeles County. Health officials are reporting more than 18-hundred new cases and 27 new deaths. This brings county totals to nearly 48-thousand cases and more than two-thousand deaths overall.

Researchers at UCLA are looking at hormones as treatment for coronavirus in veterans. Dr. Matthew Rettig says men seem to suffer more severely from the virus than women and suggests it could be due to male hormones like testosterone. His team is planning a study to temporarily suppress male hormones in men admitted to VA hospitals with severe cases of COVID-19. The study is pending approval but any patients interested in taking part in the study can contact their local VA hospital.

Dodger Stadium is L.A. County’s biggest COVID-19 testing site. The center officially opened at 10 a.m. today and will be able to test six-thousand people a day. Any Los Angeles County resident can get tested for free but has to make an appointment online ahead of time. Priority scheduling will be given to those showing symptoms and healthcare workers.
