Trump Predicts Quick, Strong Rebound After Good Jobs Report

(Washington, DC) — President Trump is predicting a quick and strong economic rebound after a surprisingly strong monthly jobs report. The May report far exceeded expectations from economic analysts. Trump called it a “jobs surge” and told reporters that it’s a “great thing.” He noted the strength of the economy before the coronavirus pandemic struck. Trump said the U.S. is reopening and he criticized some governors who are continuing lockdowns. Trump said the U.S. will once again have the “greatest economy in the history of the world.” He called it a “rocket ship.”

Two and-a-half million jobs were added in May and the unemployment rate dropped to 13-point-three percent. It was 14-point-seven percent in April. The May jobs report reflects a slight recovery after a free-fall linked to the ongoing coronavirus outbreak. The deadly pandemic shows no sign of leveling off. Trump again defended his administration’s response to the outbreak, saying his team has made “every decision correctly.”
