More Good Economic News Closes Out Big Week On Wall Street
(New York, NY) — Wall Street is closing out its third straight week of increases. The Dow Jones Industrial Average soared more than three-percent after a better-than-expected jobs report. The Labor Department said employers hired two-and-a-half-million Americans last month. The Dow Jones gained 829 points to 27-110. The S&P 500 added 82 points to 31-93. And the Nasdaq improved 198 points to 98-14.
Some of the winners today were industries that have struggled through the coronavirus pandemic. American Airlines improved more than eleven-percent and United added nearly eight-and-a-half-percent after a report more people are willing to fly again. Only two of the 30 Dow companies, Walmart and Pfizer, saw declines today. Both were less than half a percent.
