Anaheim Parks Plans To Reopen July 17
Disneyland in California plans to reopen in July after being shut down because of the coronavirus pandemic. The July 17th restart falls on the 65th anniversary of the Anaheim park’s original opening. The Downtown Disney retail district next to the theme park is scheduled to open July 9th. When Disneyland and the neighboring California Adventure theme parks reopen, it will be with limited capacity. Officials also say there will be certain health restrictions that have not yet been announced.
Los Angeles County is reopening more businesses on Friday. The list includes gyms, day camps, zoos, hotels for leisure travel and pro sports facilities without spectators. The businesses will need to follow health order guidelines. Today officials said there have been just over 67-thousand cases of coronavirus in L.A. County to date.
Governor Gavin Newsom says an increase in coronavirus cases is expected with the state’s reopening. Newsom points to the acquisition of hundreds of millions of masks, increased testing ability, hospital capacity and availability of ventilators as reason to move ahead with the state’s reopening. His statements come as the total number of cases in the state has surpassed one-hundred-and-37-thousand with most being in Los Angeles County. The governor told Oakland officials Tuesday he has no plan to reverse course now.
