LAPD Seeing Massive Influx of Fireworks-Related Calls
(Los Angeles, CA) — The Los Angeles Police Department says they’re seeing a soaring number of fireworks-related calls ahead of the 4th of July. During the first two weeks of this month, the LAPD responded to about 460 calls from people bothered by the booms. That’s more than double the amount of calls they got during that same period last year. The number of shots fired calls have also gone up by more than 100 during that period of time, probably because some firecrackers sound like gunfire. All fireworks are banned in L.A., and lawbreakers can get fined or thrown in jail.
