Study Shows Face Masks Must Cover Nose To Be Effective
(San Francisco, CA) — There’s new research on the most efficient way to wear face coverings to prevent the spread of COVID-19. According to a paper published in the journal Cell, face masks are most effective when both the nose and mouth are covered. Exhaling through the nose produces more droplets of mucus in the air than through the mouth. Health officials say face coverings, combined with physical distancing and hand washing thoroughly with soap, are three simple things one can do to decrease the number of coronavirus cases.
