(New York, NY) — The year of records for the Nasdaq marches on as it finished above 11-thousand for the first time today. It came after a slow start to the day for stocks ended on a positive note. First-time unemployment claims last week also beat expectations. The Nasdaq gained 109 points to close at 11-108 to close at a record high for the seventh straight trading session. The Dow Jones Industrial Average gained 185 points to finish at 27-386. The S&P 500 also had a good day, adding 21 points to 33-49.

The Dow’s gains were driven by Apple going up three-and-a-half percent while Disney rose two-and-a-half percent. Other big winners in the market today were casino stocks. MGM rose more than ten-percent while Wynn Resorts went up by almost seven-and-a-half percent. Facebook also had a really good day, up six-and-a-half percent. Among those to report earnings after the bell was Uber. The stock fell in after hours trading despite a beat on revenue.
