TikTok Reportedly Violated Google App Store Guidelines
TikTok may have been violating a Google app store guideline for over a year. The Wall Street Journal reports the app had tracked users MAC addresses that would allow the app to track people even if they changed their security settings. The report shows the app logged the Android users’ information for at least 15 months but has stopped doing so since its most recent update in November. TikTok was able to get around Google’s policy prohibiting it by adding extra levels of encryption.
