Trump Announces Convalescent Plasma Approval
(Washington, DC) — The FDA is giving emergency approval to the use of “convalescent plasma” to treat the coronavirus. The treatment uses plasma from the blood of patients who have recovered from COVID-19 to treat people who are ill. President Trump called it historic and said it will save countless lives. He noted that his administration is removing barriers to allow for quick approval to new treatments and a potential coronavirus vaccine. Thousands of Americans have already been treated with convalescent plasma and it’s been found to reduce the coronavirus death rate by as much as 35-percent.
This is a byproduct of President Trump’s Operation Warp Speed, designed to expedite the search for a vaccine and therapies to stop the coronavirus pandemic.
