(Palmdale, CA) — The city of Palmdale might soon have an out of this world connection. On Sunday, the U.S. Air Force said it’s formally considering Palmdale to become the permanent home for the official headquarters of the U.S. Space Force. Los Angeles County Supervisor Kathryn Barger sent in a nomination last week, and now federal and military officials are heading into the evaluation phase. Palmdale will be evaluated based on elements like its infrastructure, community support and overall cost to build there. An official decision is expected by the beginning of next year.
