Advertising Group Asks Lawmakers To Walk Back Recent Amendment

A group of Advertising agencies is asking the California legislature to walk back a recent amendment to its consumer protection bill. In a statement Thursday, they claimed the changes to AB 32-63 would have a “chilling” impact on commercial speech, digital content availability and online commerce during a time when the economy is “already under significant strain.” The law makes it so online retail marketplaces are held to the same liability standers of physical stores. The amendment now includes all online marketplaces that benefit from advertising fees.
