LA County Hair Salons Not Cleared To Re-Open

(Los Angeles, CA) — Barbershops and hair salons in Los Angeles County will remain closed, despite an announcement from Governor Gavin Newsom that shopping centers can start up indoor operations under new safety guidelines. The Los Angeles Department of Public Health shared a post on social media that county’s health order has not been modified. Under the new guidelines, California indoor barbershops and hair salons located inside shopping malls can reopen at 25 percent capacity beginning on Monday. LA County health officials have not said whether they plan to meet to discuss the new guidelines.

Here is the bad news via LA County Dept of Health twitter:

Although the State today revised slightly the list of permitted activities in Tier 1 to allow for the re-opening of both hair salons for indoor services and indoor shopping centers for permitted retailers, the Health Officer Order has not been changed to permit these re-openings.

Gov Newsom Announces Reopening Plans

(Sacramento, CA) — Governor Gavin Newsom is introducing plans to start reopening the state county-by-county. The tiered approach is based on both the COVID-19 case rate and positivity rate, and allows counties to reopen businesses as conditions improve. Counties have to meet qualifications for 14 days and then wait an extra seven days before moving to the next tier. Then there’s also an “emergency brake” if hospitalizations spike.
